Christy Ren

Christy Ren was first exposed to figure skating at a young age in Canada. She started taking figure skating lessons at the age of 7 in Hong Kong, under the influence of her elder sister, Carole Ren, who went on to represent Hong Kong in International figure skating competitions.

In 1997 the Hong Kong Skating Union wanted to introduce a new sport to Hong Kong – short track speed skating. Christy decided to make the switch and became a pioneer of short track speed skating in Hong Kong. Under Coach Lu Shuo she became the first short track speed skater in Hong Kong.

In 2002, Christy, along with her teammate Cordia Tsoi Po Yee, made history by becoming the very first athletes to obtain qualification and represent Hong Kong in the Winter Olympics. Christy competed in the individual 500m, 1000m and 1500m short track speed skating events at the 2002 Winter Olympics in Salt Lake City. It was a valuable experience and in a way helped to pave the way for the next generation of Hong Kong short track speed skaters.

Christy ranked 17th in the 1000m Womens event at the 2004 Short Track Speed Skating World Championships and won a Bronze Medal with her teammates in the Women 3000m Relay at the 2007 Asian Short Track Speed Skating Championships.

After retiring as an athlete, she had a career in Investment Banking and in Brand Marketing.
Recently she founded Hong Kong Skating School which offers short track speed skating programs to Hong Kong youth to further promote, develop and contribute to this sport that she loves. She hopes as well that her students will be able to gain valuable life experiences from engaging in competitive sport just as she did.

任家貝小時候先開始學的是花樣滑冰，在加拿大第一次接觸滑冰運動， 7嵗的時候在她姐姐的影響下在香港正式開始學習花樣滑冰。她的姐姐任家儀也代表了香港參加國際比賽。

1997年，香港中國滑冰聯盟希望將一項新的運動引入香港 -- 短道速度滑冰。任家貝決定由花樣滑冰轉型，並成爲香港短道速度滑冰的先驅。在吕碩教練的領導下，她成爲香港第一位短道速度滑冰運動員。2002年，她與隊友蔡寳儀創造了歷史，成爲首位獲得資格並代表香港參加冬季奧運會的運動員。任家貝在2002年鹽湖城冬季奧運會參加了個人500米、1000米和1500米短道速滑比賽項目。她在這次奧運中得到了寶貴的經驗，而某種程度上也為香港下一代短道速滑運動員鋪好了道路。

任家貝在2004年短道速度滑冰世界錦標賽女子1000米比賽中排名17，並在2007年短道速滑亞洲錦標賽女子3000米接力賽與隊友獲得銅牌。

運動員生涯結束後，任家貝曾從事投資銀行和品牌營銷工作。

最近，她創辦了香港滑冰學校，為香港青少年提供短道速度滑冰課程，以進一步發展和推廣她熱愛的滑冰運動，希望能給學生機會像她一樣從競技體育中獲得寶貴的人生經驗。
