HUNG Wing Yan Winne
Winnie became a Hong Kong Olympian at the Tokyo Games 2021.
Her journey started in 2016, when she was recruited through the Rowing Talent Identification Program of the Hong Kong, China Rowing Association, and later becoming a full-time athlete of the Hong Kong Sports Institute in 2017.
In 2018, Winnie participated at the Asian Games held in Jakarta, Indonesia, marking her first Major Games where she finished in 8th place in the women's single sculls event with a field of 11 athletes.
Winnie continued to improve and gain experience, placing 6th at the Under 23 World Rowing Championships in the lightweight woman single sculls event a year later. In the same year, she also competed in the 2019 World Coastal Rowing Championships held in Hong Kong, where she partnered with her HK teammates to win the gold medal in the women's coxed quadruple sculls.
The Tokyo Olympics Asia and Oceania Qualification Tournament at Sea Forest Aquatic Arena in Tokyo Japan was held in 2021 where Winnie raced for qualification against the best in Asia.
“I never thought I'd get a ticket to the Olympic Games, I'm so glad and grateful for the opportunity to compete on the biggest stage and to be an Olympian.”
In 2022, Winnie won a silver medal at the Asian Rowing Championships held in Thailand in lightweight, along with her partner, in the women double sculls as she looks ahead to qualifying for the 2023 Asian Games in Hangzhou, China.
