Oscar was born and raised in Hong Kong by British parents and started triathlon training at the age of 13 after competing in swimming and running at school. He joined the National Triathlon team at the age of 15 and has been competing for Hong Kong ever since.
As a junior athlete, Oscar won the Junior Elite Asian Championships twice, also achieving a win and a podium finish in Elite Men ITU Asian Cups. In 2018, he renounced his British citizenship in order to gain a Hong Kong passport, allowing me to be eligible to compete for Hong Kong at the Olympic, Asian and China National Games.
Oscar felt he had a near perfect start to the 2020 season, finishing 2nd at the Chennai Asian Cup in India. Unfortunately though the Olympics was postponed to 2021 soon after due to the Covid-19 pandemic. . Moving back to Hong Kong, Oscar secured his qualification in June 202, earning his ticket to compete at the Tokyo Olympic Games in 2021, where he finished in 33rd position, becoming Hong Kong’s first Olympic triathlete since 2008 and Hong Kong’s best ever finisher.
Oscar continues to push himself and Hong Kong Triathlon further towards the top end of the sport, with goals of an Asian Games medals in 2022 and his second Olympic qualification in 2024.
